January 2010News at Amarilla Divers.

Well the new year started with a bang. We have been looking for new sites with our Divemaster Jonny and we came across a new dive site with a huge ball of Roncadores PLUS a turtle. WOW.

7th Jan 2010. Open Water Referral Amy Hogg.

Well Amy started last year with a Try Dive and this year with an Open Water course. Well done Amy.

We are so pleased that you chose us to complete your Open Water dives with. You are very confident in the water and even went onto do a boat dive at Roncadores Del Faro afterwards.

It was a pleasure to teach you and we hope to see you again in May for some more diving.

18th January 2010. Jonny's Point.

We seem to have come across the house of a Seahorse at our new dive site Jonny's Point. We have been down there a few times and it has been there. Also we gave our secrets away to Sol Scuba & they have managed to capture a few photos of our little friend.

We will be going again this week & hope to get some more pictures.

20th January 2010. NEW Turtle

We went out looking for new places to dive today. Imagine our surprise when we found a new baby Turtle covered in Algae at Alcala. This site proved to be very busy with life as we also found a ball of Roncadores along with loads of bream, wrasse & damsels. The rock formations were spectacular as well.

21st January 2010. Boat Diving.

We decided to take a few boat dives, we ended up at Roncadores Del Faro & Los Archos.

Roncadores Del Faro was beautiful with the rock formations and the large ball of Roncadores. There are also 2 swim throughs at this site, which gives it chararcter. We also managed to find a sleeping Angle Shark in the sand.

Los Archos was a new site for us. This has 3 or 4 arches made out or the rocks. It has yellow corals growing on some of them which is stunning. It also has a memorial to Jaques Cousteau & Philippe Kloos from Coral sub dive center. There is a little place to find some hidden moray eels as well.

25th January 2010 El Condesito.

A few of us went down to have a look at El Condesito Wreck. We haven't been there for around 14 months, so it was nice to see what has been happening.

There was loads of life here today. We found a sting ray, an octopus, some large trumpet fish & many more fish around the boat.

The wreck itself in not penetratable anymore, as it is rather instable, but it is still a fabulos wreck to be seen.

Many thanks to all the divers, students and staff.
