July 2011 News at Amarilla Divers.
The Summer season has started and July has bought lots of sun and lots of divers. Here is what has been going on this month with Amarilla Divers.
1st July 2011. Advanced Open Water Course.
Pat & Doc were continuing on with their Advanced course with Neil and today was Deep & Wreck, so up to Tabaiba Wreck for the dives.
Both guys really enjoyed these dives and said it was the first site that they would happily do by themselves.
They both did really well and only have Peak Performance Buoyancy left to do.
2nd July 2011. Peak Performance Buoyancy
Neil was down on the house reef with Pat, Doc, Iain & Ben for PPB. The hoops were all set up nicely for the guys to navigate. They did such a good job, they have both decided to continue on to the specialty for this dive.
Snorkelling at Abades.
Rachel & Mick took some snorkellers Emma & Kier to Abades this morning. Everyone had a good time and saw lots of life. Emma & Kier were so impressed that they are now thinking of coming back to do some diving. Well done guys.
Scuba Tune up ~ OW Dive
Dive Master rachel was in the pool for a scuba review with Toni from Spain. Toni enjoyed the pool session and so we then went to Abades for the open water dive. He was also then joined by Sue, Chris & Neil. The visibility was excellent and Toni did well. We were also very impressed by Sue who just recently completed her Scuba Diver course.
3rd July 2011. Outer Reef Abades.
Sue & Chris were back for some more dives and we was also joined by Konrad & Neil and went along to Abades Outer. Another fantastic dive for all and again loads of life including a nice Sting Ray.

4th July 2011. Alcala Beach
With Chris, Sue, Konrad, Bo, Mary, Neil, Jonny, Iain & Ben we went along to Alcala. What a great dive site this is! The visibility was stunning and the turtle was around too. The reef was alive with fish and the Roncadores were there in a couple of balls. Sue was over the moon at spotting the Turtle and it came and swam very close to her too.
Black Cove Beach
Tony 'farmer' was back in the water this afternoon and we are very happy to see him. He was joined by Chris, Konrad, Iain & of course Neil. A nice dive was had by all. Tony did a great job and has now booked in for a few more dives.
Night Dive House Reef.
Our Night dives are always very popular and today was no exception. Neil was joined on the house reef by Bo, Iain, Pat, Doc, Mike, Konrad & Ben. The visibility was not so great as it can be but everyone had a good dive and smiling faces were everywhere.
5th July 2011. Playa Paraiso.
Dive site for today was Playa Paraiso with Neil, Ben, Tony, Konrad & Mike. Mike was back with us again and we are to see as we have not seen him since January when we took our group holiday in Egypt.
El Puertito.
The second dive was at el Puertito and this is always a delightful dive. Ben was down here for here for the first time and was over the moon to see 4 turtles. He was joined by Neil, Mike, Tony & Konrad. Lots of smiling faces after this dive :)
6th July 2011. Marazul.
Pat & Doc along with Ben, Neil & Konrad went along to Marazul for a couple of dives. The first one went down to the deep swim through and was a nice dive the visibility was over 40 meters. This made the dive all the better as you could see for miles.
The second was made along the wall with lots of new rock formations and life. A very nice couple of dives.
6th July 2011. Fun dives in the pool.
Rachel our Dive Master has been completing fun dives in the pool on Wednesday's & Saturday's and has been having a great response. Rachel is doing a great job and is now working towards her DSD leader and also her Instructor course in September.
6th July 2011. Night Dive Abades.
We had a great night dive here at Abades with Neil, David, Ben, Iain & Konrad. The life was stunning and we were graced by 2 Bull Rays and 1 Eagle Ray. This made the dive beautiful and everyone was very pleased with themselves afterwards. Our night dives are still very popular, even with a late finish. Well done guys.
7th July 2011. Tabaiba Wreck.
Bo was back this morning for a dive at Tabaiba and he was joined by Konrad, Mike, Neil, Tony & David. A nice dive here with good visibility and great divers. We collected the bike from 36 meters and brought it to the wreck for some pictures.
7th July 2011. Discover Scuba Diver.
Matthias from Germany was in the pool for a DSD with Mary & Ben. Matthias did a grand job with his kills and so it was off to Black Cove for the open water dive. Neil was also there with Mike. Matthias had a great dive and he was surprised at the amount of fish in the sea.
8th July 2011. Rescue Diver training.
After a while away from training, Melinda was back in the pool with Ben, our new intern, for some Rescue diver training. Neil was today's instructor and he was helped by Mary & Dive Master Rachel. The training session went really well and everyone 'survived' the session!! Now we will be doing the Open Water training during the next week. Good luck guys!
9th July 2011. Yellow Mountain.
Billy was back in the center for some diving, as was Vicki Rae. It is always really very nice to see repeat customers coming back time and again.
We went down to Yellow Mountain with Neil, Mick, Bo, Ben, Billy, Tony, Mike & Vicki. Neil had an incident with his semi-dry when the zip burst open heehee, so Mick guided the dive.
11th July 2011. Poris Pier.
The visibility here at Poris Pier today was not as good as we can have, but we still had a nice dive with lots life and lots of divers. We welcomed some new divers Thomas & David, both from Scotland and we were also joined by Bo, Jonny, Billy, Vicki & Neil.
Discover Scuba Diver course.
After having a try dive in the pool with Dive Master Rachel earlier in the week, Grant decided to go one step further with our Discover Scuba Diver course. Rachel came on to conduct this as part of her DSD leader and she was joined by Mary who was 'observing'. Grant did a great job and was very confident in the pool. We went down to the house reef and had a very nice dive down there. Well done Grant.

Black Cove.
The afternoon was spent down at Black Cove wall with Neil. Vicki, Thomas, David & Billy. Thomas was trying to tweak his buoyancy and we will be working on this more during the week.
12th July 2011. Marazul.
The morning was spent at Marazul with Neil, Vicki, Bo, Jonny & Billy. The visibility was around 20 meters plus and we went down to A frame swim through and also the deep swim through too.
Discover Scuba Diver.
Rachel was back for her second session of DSD's in the pool with Mary. We were joined by Tom & Steph. The pool session went well and we managed to complete all the skills. The dive was taken on the house reef, where we was also joined by Ben.

Jonny's Point drift Dive.
Ben was out for some open water rescue diving with Neil, Mary, Rachel, Billy & Jonny. The rescue scenarios played out well and we will throwing a few more practices in soon.

13th July 2011. Abades Outer Reef
We have been joined by John Walsh from Ireland for the week so we went along up to Abades Out reef with him. John was also joined by Bo, Thomas, Billy, Neil, & Ben. Lately Abades has become a haven for Sting Rays and we are now seeing some on almost every dive. This is a nice addition to an already fantastic dive site.

Moon Pools.
The afternoon was spent at the Moon Pools at Black Cove. Bo has now departed and will be flying back to Denmark with lots of photos and lots of new friends. So this dive was with Neil, Billy, Ben, Thomas & John. A very nice dive was had by all.
14th July 2011. Discover Scuba Diver.
Mary was in the pool for Discover Scuba Diver and this time she was joined by Nathan & Pete. The father and son pair had decided to have a go at diving as it was Nathan's 18th birthday present. Both guys had a good session in the pool and we then went to Black Cove for the open water dive. Well done boys.

Abades reef.
On the look out for more sting rays, so up to Abades it was. The visibility was good and there was lots to see. The waves were getting a little lively but everyone took it in their stride. We were joined by Neil, John, Thomas, David L, Vicki & Billy.
Black Cove.
Neil then decided for the afternoon to go back down to Black Cove as this has some excellent visibility this week and lots of life. Neil was there with Thomas, John, Ben & David L.
15th July 2011. El Puertito.
El Puertito was the dive site for the day and they enjoyed it so much that we did 2 dives here, plus some Snorkelling. The dive site was very busy today with divers and tourist, but this did not deter our divers. We had along with us Neil, Billy, David D, Vicki &John. We also had David's family along for some snorkelling with Iain. Jenna, Gregor & Jane had an excellent time and the Turtles did too.
For the second dive we was also joined by Mary, Mick, Cami & Sue. It was so nice to get some more GIRLS out to see the turtles.

Discover Scuba diver.
Mary & Mick spent the morning in the pool with Marie & Les for their DSD. Marie was a little worried about the mask as she had only previously worn goggles!!. we will be working with Marie on some snorkelling first as she really wants to complete her Open Water course in the end. Well done guys.
16th July 2011. Discover Scuba Diver
Rachel was back in the pool for her DSD leader with Mary and this time she was joined by Junior calum. Rachel is getting more and more confident with her skills and briefings and has even been doing some extra freelancing. Calum did a grand job and will be doing the open water dive at Abades.

El Puertito.
Turtles, Turtles everywhere!! We had a nice group of divers go along to El Puertito to see the Turtles, Michelle was so excited to see them. She was joined by Chris, Bob, Kristen, Mick & Billy.
Scuba Diver Course.
Neil was joined in the pool for some confined water training with Kevin & Julie. These guys have done numerous DSD's in their time so we thought it would be a nice change to go that little bit further. They had a good day and will be going to Open Water tomorrow with Neil.

Abades
Rachel & Calum were off to Open Water and they were joined by Neil, Michelle, Chris, Iain & Billy. The dive site was Abades beach. Calum had a few problems with is ears so came out early but he had a great time.
17th July 2011. Scuba Diver Course.
Kevin & Julie were back for some more training with Neil. Today started with Confined water 3 and finished with 2 new certified Divers :) The whole day went well and both the guys did an excellent job. We look forward to seeing them again soon.
18th July 2011. Abades
Neil was up to Abades for a days diving with Rachel, Dina & Rune. These guys had some nice dives and were very pleased with the life they saw. Dina & Rune have now gone back to Denmark with some nice memories of diving in Tenerife.

19th July 2011. Rescue Course
Black Cove was the dive site for today and we had Ben out for his Rescue course with Neil. We also had Mary, Billy & Iain in the water to act as 'victims'. It was an excellent couple or sessions and Ben completed his rescue course with style. Well done Ben.
20th July 2011. Discover Scuba Diver
Mark, Alison, Jake, Robbie came down for a Discover Scuba Diver course with Neil & Ben. Alison didn't like it to much and so she got out. The boys continued on and then went to the house reef for their open water dive.

20th July 2011. KIT Exchange.
Ben & Iain were in the pool with Neil & Mary for their kit exchange. The boys had their 5 minutes to discuss their plan, then it was down to the pool to see how they got on.
It was a very good problem solving exercise and they both did a great job.
Night Dive at Black Cove.
The ever popular night diving was on the board again and so Neil went along to Black Cove with Billy, Jonny, Ben & Iain. This dive was excellent and they found loads of octopus and a lovely Streaked Gurnard. It was nice to have a another dive site with lots of life for night diving.

21st July 2011. Junior Open Water upgrade.
We welcomed back juniors Alfie & Paige for their Junior Open Water upgrade. they were in the pool with Neil & Ben for confined 4 & 5 and then out to the house reef for open water 3. They did a great job and will be completing the rest tomorrow.

PADI Seal team
Ronnie was back with us only this time he was diving and not snorkelling. Ronnie is the youngest of the Harvey family, Alfie & Paige having done their diving courses already. Ronnie was in the pool with Mary & Iain for his PADI Seal Team and did an amazing job. He was so confident with the skill circuit that we know he will be back to do his Junior Scuba Diver course soon.

22nd July 2011. Junior Open Water upgrade.
Alfie & Paige managed to complete open water 4, exams and stamina today to become Junior Open Water divers. Well done you guys and we will see you soon for some pleasure dives.

Discover Scuba Diver course.
Rachel was in the center today to take some Discover Scuba Divers. She was joined by Mick, Mary, Oleta, Tia, Kevin & Christina. The pool session went well and the skills were completed by everyone. They then went down to the house reef for their open water dive. Neil was on hand to get a few photos and also in the water was Iain & Ben.

23rd July 2011. Scuba Review.
We were joined by Pete a resident diver who has not dived since around 1993!! He was here for a scuba review and also looking to develop his skills to dive master and eventually Instructor. We hope to be seeing a lot of more of Pete over the coming months.
They dived down at Black Cove and it was a great dive and Pete felt like he had never been away. We look forward now to doing his Advanced Open Water course soon.

25th July 2011. Discover Scuba with the Ward Sisters.
Scarlett & Sorrel cam down to join Mary & Ben in the pool for their Discover Scuba Diver course. They both did an excellent job and we are very proud of them both. Scarlett did not go to sea but Sorrel joined us on the house reef for some fun diving.

25th July 2011. Pool Circuits.
Neil was back in the pool with Ben & Iain for their pool circuits as part of their Dive Master course. Both boys have been doing very well and so today we did some grading for Iain. he did a great job and only has a few parts left to complete his Dive Master course.
27th July 2011. the Anderson Family.
Rachel and Neil were back in for some Discover Scuba diver with the Anderson family. John, Lewis, Jake & Amy had a great session in the pool and then went down to the house reef for their open water dive. We got some nice photos for them and they all had a an excellent time. We think they may now be hooked

28th July 2011. Pool sessions.
Dive Master candidates Mick, Ben & Iain were in the pool with Mary & Neil for some more skills. Ben, Mick & Neil played students for Iain and it was a lot of fun. many things learnt in the process too.
29th July 2011. Boat Diving
We were lucky enough to Thierry & Marimar on their boat for a dive this morning and we was also joined by Rachel, Mick, Ben, Iain, Tony G, Mary & Neil. We went along to a site that we have not visited for so long that we have renamed it. The site is now called Gillies reef and it was a stunning dive with lots of life and rock formations.
We will hopefully be revisiting this site a lot more, soon.
El Puertito.
Sorrel was back for another dive only this time she was joined by Ben, David, Sue & Neil and went along to see the friendly turtles. This was a nice dive and Sorrel did a great job even though her mask was playing naughty games!. Well done guys.

30th July 2011. Diving with Pascal.
We was joined today by Pascal from Paris. He went along to Poris Pier and Abades Sting Ray alley with Neil & Ben where we had 2 very nice dives with good visibility and lots of life.
31st July 2011. Discover Scuba
Discover Scuba Diver is definitely the way to go at the moment! We were joined today by Liam & Niamh from Ireland and they had a great session with Neil, Rachel & Ben. The open water dive was at Black Cove and was very beautiful. They both had a great time and are looking forward to moving on.
