September's News at Amarilla Divers.

Saturday 5th September 2009. Marine Reserve Lime Sea urchin Control.

Again the local dive centers have been participating in the campaign to control the lime sea urchin, Diadema Antilarum, at Yellow Mountain. We had some of our divers go along & help out.

When this is finished they will only be allowing authorised dive boats to moor at the reserve. There will be 2 moorings and only 2 boats at any one time may dive the site.

The fishing boats will be banned from the area. This will hopefully promote the sealife here and make an already lovely site a fantastic site.

September 8th 2009. Dive site search.

Some of our divers have been put looking for new dive site to visit from the shore. We have a few new ones to go to and have also been chatting with some other dive centers about their new sites. Hopefully this will please our regular divers.

September 14th. Yellow Mountain

We have been diving today at Yellow Mountain with Antonio, Jonny, plus a few divers from Sol scuba. This is a fantastic dive site. Loads of life and great visability. With a small swim through aswell, this site offers the diver lots to see. Image our surprise when we cam across a Seahorse. Jonny was ready with the camera for some pics.

September 14th 2009. Yellow Mountain Night Dive.

Night dives always bring a few surprises. This time was no different. Again we were blessed with a baby Angel Shark. We also had the Garden eels swimming around freely, cleaner shrimp and a baby cuttlefish.

September 15th 2009. El Puertito.

Well today we have been to play with the turtles. Antonio was taking loads of Pictures, while his wife was on her try dive. The turtles were mor than happy to pose for their pictures. We also had ' Shut Up and Dive Tenerife's' videographer taking videos of the dive. Keep your eyes pealed for video footage.

September 21sth 2009. Night Dive Tabaiba.

This evening was our very first night dive at Tabaiba. WOW what a dive. As soon as you enter the water you are greated by hundreds of little eyes....Shrimps...all hiding in the rocks. as you approach the wreck, it almost looks like a ghost boat in the distance. There was so much life round the boat to see. ..We had sting rays, trumpet fish, eels swimming freely and much more. we will definitely be going up there at night again.

Many thanks to all the divers, students and staff.
